Ethics Policy

News Afrika is committed to ethical journalism and editorial integrity.

We aim to:

  • report truthfully and fairly
  • minimise avoidable harm
  • act independently
  • avoid conflicts of interest
  • distinguish editorial work from advertising
  • correct significant factual errors
  • treat sources, subjects, and readers with respect

Independence

Editorial decisions should not be improperly influenced by advertisers, political actors, funders, or outside interests.

Conflicts of interest

Writers, editors, and contributors should avoid conflicts that may compromise editorial judgment. Relevant conflicts should be disclosed where appropriate.

Sponsored and paid content

Commercial content, sponsorships, affiliate content, and paid promotions should be clearly labelled so readers can distinguish them from editorial material.

Use of AI and digital tools

We may use digital tools, including AI-assisted tools, for support functions such as workflow, research assistance, formatting, or production support. Such tools should not replace editorial judgment, fact-checking, or accountability.
